Another fun day was had on the Lomas Santa Fe golf course in the name of charity. This past September we hosted our 8th Annual Rob Machado Golf experience benefiting my foundation, yes you got it – the Rob Machado Foundation. This year’s theme was South of the Border – Baja or mainland – whatever got ya going.
The fiesta kicked off at noon with our putting contest hosted by our event producers, Spectrum Sports. Although no one was able to claim the big prize of $10k there we’re some close calls – a real nail bitter. The course was full of its usual twists and turns but we made sure everyone stayed on point with lots of cerveza and margaritas! Thanks to all our event sponsors - Wahoo’s for the breakfast burritos, Nixon and Zenbu/Rimmels for the tacos excellente` + mariachi’s locos, reef for the rob machado taco toss, dragon’s ruthless border patrol, hurley, archies, belly up, sambazon, surfer, boost mobile for always being life of the party. Gracias to our new supporters, New Era, Pat’s Record Company and Pacific Coast Casino for jumping on board. All this fun wasn’t just an excuse to slap on a fake mustache and serape it was done for a purpose. We raised $15,000.00 for the Cardiff Education Association’s school greening project. Check back on robmachadofoundation.org for more details of the 2010 programs. Muchas gracias to Nike Golf and INT surfboards for donating the prizes. To our event producers Spectrum Sports, Cobain for décor, The Gavel Group for handling the auction, the Cardiff Schools Education Association’s volunteers and mis amigos James Lynch + Tony Perez for the support. Spotlight in Dustin from INT and his lady for winning the best costume award this year. Last but not least to Blair and Justine for the tequila gun and leaf blower – guess you had to be there. Adios y hasta lluego! Rob |
